Are you serious?

This morning I called my mother-in-law about a few random things.  I had to leave a message because, surprisingly, she was not waiting by the phone for my call...  I ended the message with, "You know you live in the south when schools announce early dismissals based on an 80% chance of snow."

In fairness, we did get some ice--by my estimate I think we have a quarter inch of packed ice on the ground, deck, streets, everywhere.  My husband, FROM INDIANA, even came home and noted that some of the roads were treacherous. Yes, treacherous.

Others in NC made the same type of comments on facebook and twitter.  My favorite?  "On 95...these roads are awful and there are idiot drivers here to."   First, the obvious.  Yes, she sure did finish that statement with the wrong "to."  Oh, and the alerting-social-media-while-driving-on-"roads-[that]-are-awful" thing was bad, TOO.  At least she got one thing right; there sure are idiots out there.

This picture really doesn't do this justice.  This is the house down the street that I passed BEFORE ice was sticking anywhere.  (This cold mess started out as snow.)  Because you can't tell, THERE ARE NO CARS IN ANY OF THE DRIVEWAYS! They are all on the street down there--like 5 houses.  Now, granted, I used to park at the top of my driveway--actually even on the street when they were calling for snow However, I was living in the country AND my driveway was like forever long and extremely steep.  (I had trouble maneuvering without ice, there isn't time to get into that.  That may have to be a week-long series...)

Quick update: Taylor Swift was supposed to call Jay Z last night.  At 10:19 pm I received a text saying she had chickened out.  Thus, Jay Z is supposed to be calling this evening.  More to follow...

I have nothing else for you. Except this:
